Sri Lanka Lift Wedding Ban, No Kissing The Bride
On Friday May 22, 2020, the government of SRI LANKA lifts weddings ban also on receptions as part of coronavirus restrictions, with grooms not kissing the bride at least not in public.
Sri Lanka is known for holding wedding celebrations with thousands of guests and it can last for days. But with the new guidelines only 100 guests will be allowed at weddings and they must all stay a meter away from each other and must wear face masks including the couples.
The new guidelines also include;
"Guests should not be allowed to kiss, hug or shake hands," said the latest health ministry rules seen by AFP. "Greeting each other should be done without any touching."
The country already imposed a nationwide curfew which was effective on March 20, 2020 that ruled out public gatherings.
However, the restrictions have been eased in several districts that are not considered as high risk. Religious gathering still on hold while only bereaved family are allowed at a funeral, offices have been allowed to open with limited staffs to carry out essential services but the Colombo and the neighboring districts of Gampaha, where the main international airport is located remain under a 24 hours curfew.
There are total of 1,055 cases reported in SRI LANKA and 9 deaths recorded.
